After a run of 3 straight wins, the 1st team succumbed to Kensington at home on Thursday! We started well but couldn’t convert our dominance into goals. An absolutely diabolical tackle from Kensington only saw a yellow card issued (when everyone knew it should have been a straight red – without a doubt!) Soon after the opposition gained self-belief and to their credit started to get back in the game and at times dominated possession without any real threat!
With about 35 minutes gone, an extremely tame attempt on goal (which was going wide) unfortunately found its way into the net after not too clever goalkeeping. Soon after they hit the top of the crossbar as we found ourselves under the cosh! We weathered the storm and went into the break 1-0 down but still confident.
The 2nd half really only had 1 side in it as it was no surprise we equalised through Robin Forbes. We continued to dominate the game and created numerous chances and should have gone 2, 3 or even 4-1 up! Totally against the run of play, Kensington scored what proved to be the winner with 10 minutes to go! For the last 10 minutes we played 3 at the back and pushed bodies forward to try and carve out the equaliser but to no avail! How the ball did not go in was a mystery as we hit the crossbar through Moesie Moses and thought we had equalised with the last play from a header by Bevan Yon only for their keeper to produce a match winning save! 2-1 loss but a very good performance none the less!
