In probably the most entertaining game of the season, the 1st team were held to a 1-1 draw against table topping Hanover Park at home!
We knew this was going to be a tough game as Hanover Park are run away leaders at the top of the CTTFA 1st Division! We started well and passed the ball around with ease creating quite a few goal scoring opportunities without converting. Thereafter, the visitors settled and started putting us on the back foot without really troubling Goalkeeper Rory O’Brien. The back four of Josh Stadler, Warren Van Neel, Ebrahiem Martin and Bevan Yon should be commended for this!
We eventually did take the lead (against the run of play it must said) when Clayton Keet spotted the keeper off his line and calmly chipped him from 30 yards. 1-0 at the break.
We knew they were going to press hard in the 2nd half and that we needed to be at our best! What transpired was probably the best display of end to end football seen in a while! As we continued to look for the 2nd goal they were committing plenty forward looking for the equaliser. Eventually, with about 20 minutes from time they found it via the head of the striker who was later sent off for a 2nd yellow card. 1-1 the final score but it could easily have ended 4-4! Credit to both teams for the entertainment provided.
Next week we travel to Clyde Pinelands looking to get back on the winning trail after a 3 game winless streak!
